What was I thinking?

Session 1. The play marks. Dabbing instead of big strokes. Careful instead of confident. I could feel the timidity in every touch.

Session 2. I came back and started responding, pushed white over the timid marks, let the color
Monday morning. Cache cleared. 

Sometimes before I make a single mark, I walk. 
Same lake. Different paths. 
Different sky every time. 

In web development, clearing the cache wipes the old data so the system runs clean. 
That’s what the walk
In programming, you debug the code, In life, I debug myself.

When you’re stuck in a loop, repeating the same patterns, same routines, same decisions, 
you have two choices, keep cycling or break the code.

This piece is about that breaking point. 
Bold marks
Not every sketchbook page makes it to canvas. 

These are Beta versions I’m making. I’m adding and then making decisions about what I want to keep and remove, I’m testing. 

Some move to Production. Others stay here, doing their job
Sometimes you need to reboot your entire process.

Moved to the easel from the table to paint and then moved to the floor. 

Started testing ideas in sketchbooks. 
Built a beta phase before moving to canvas.

A Cold Night in Berlin

I made this piece after visiting the Empty Library Memorial one night.
What stayed with me was the weight in the air, the history sitting in silence.
I tried to paint the somber stillness of that moment.
